अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः

एभिम्मया निहन्तव्या दुर्विनीता: सुरारय: । “इसलिये मैं अवतार लेकर इस पृथ्वीकी रक्षा अवश्य करूँगा। ऐसा सोच-विचारकर भगवान् मधुसूदनने जगत्के लिये अवतार ग्रहण करनेके निमित्त अपने अनेक रूपोंकी सृष्टि की अर्थात् वाराह
ebhirmayā nihantavyā durvinītāḥ surārayaḥ |
«Par ces (moyens/formes), je dois abattre les ennemis des dieux, indisciplinés et rebelles.» Ici, le récit explique que, méditant sur la protection de la terre, le Seigneur résolut de prendre des incarnations pour le bien du monde—se remémorant des formes telles que le Sanglier, l’Homme-Lion, le Nain et des manifestations humaines—afin de contenir et d’anéantir les puissances démoniaques orgueilleuses et de préserver le dharma.
