एकान्तिधर्म-प्रश्नः (Inquiry into Ekāntin Dharma) / The Origin and Practice of Single-Pointed Nārāyaṇa-Centered Discipline
पितृशेषेण विप्रांश्न संविभज्यश्रितांश्व॒ सः । शेषान्नभुक् सत्यपर: सर्वभूतेष्वहिंसक:
pitṛ-śeṣeṇa viprān saṁvibhajya āśritāṁś ca saḥ | śeṣānna-bhuk satya-paraḥ sarva-bhūteṣv ahiṁsakaḥ ||
Bhīṣma dit : Après avoir d’abord réparti entre les brāhmanes et ceux qui dépendaient de lui ce qui restait des offrandes aux ancêtres, il ne mangeait que la nourriture qui demeurait ensuite. Attaché à la vérité, il pratiquait la non‑violence envers tous les êtres : modèle d’une conduite domestique disciplinée où l’on se sert en dernier, après avoir honoré dieux, ancêtres et hôtes.
