Nara-Nārāyaṇa–Nārada Discourse on Vision, Elements, and Entry into Vāsudeva

इस योनि-सम्बन्धसे कोई सकुशल जीता हुआ बाहर निकल आता है, तब कोई संतानको प्राप्त होता है और पुनः परस्परके सम्बन्धमें संलग्न हो जाता है ।।

nārada uvāca | asmin yoni-sambandhe kaścid eva sukhena jīvan bahir niṣkrāmati; tataḥ kaścit santānaṃ prāpya punaḥ paraspara-sambandheṣu saṃlagno bhavati || sa tasya sahajātasyāḥ saptamīṃ navamīṃ daśāṃ prāpnuvanti tataḥ pañca na bhavanti gatāyuṣaḥ ||

Nārada dit : De cet enchevêtrement de l’existence incarnée, tel homme peut sortir vivant et sauf ; puis, ayant obtenu une descendance, il se retrouve de nouveau pris dans les attachements et les liens réciproques. Le Soi vivant, qui depuis un temps sans commencement s’est associé au corps né avec lui, traverse les états successifs du corps : séjour dans le sein maternel, naissance, enfance, adolescence, jeunesse, âge mûr, vieillesse, décrépitude, arrêt du souffle vital et destruction. Dans le septième et le neuvième état, ce sont les cinq éléments matériels du corps qui subissent ces changements, non le Soi ; et lorsque la durée de vie impartie est épuisée, ces éléments ne demeurent plus dans le neuvième état : le corps atteint alors le dixième, sa dissolution.
