नापरीक्षितचारित्रे विद्या देया कथंचन । 'ये सभी शिष्यके गुण हैं। किसीको शिष्य बनानेसे पहले उसके इन गुणोंको यथार्थरूपसे परख लेना चाहिये। जिसके सदाचारकी परीक्षा न ली गयी हो
nāparīkṣitacāritre vidyā deyā kathaṃcana |
Bhīṣma dit : Il ne faut jamais transmettre le savoir à celui dont la conduite n’a pas été éprouvée. Avant de recevoir un homme comme disciple, il convient d’examiner avec soin son caractère et de le trouver droit ; car la connaissance confiée à des mains non vérifiées peut être détournée et devient périlleuse pour l’éthique.
