Ainsi, sous l’influence de cette même disposition—avec la tendance tenace qui l’accompagne—bien des rois à la vaillance redoutable se mirent à accomplir des actes dignes des asura.
पराशर उवाच
A ruler’s actions follow the ruler’s inner disposition: when an asuric mindset takes hold and is reinforced by lingering habitual tendencies, even the mighty drift into unethical, destructive conduct. The verse warns that power without inner discipline accelerates moral collapse.
Parāśara explains a causal chain: because of a particular corrupt ‘bhāva’ (disposition) and its accompanying residue, many formidable kings began to adopt and practice asuric deeds—conduct contrary to dharma.
