Mahābhārata 12.292
प्रयत्नेन च संसिद्धा धनैरपि विवर्जिता: । सम्यग् हुत्वा हुतवहं मुनयः सिद्धिमागता:
prayatnena ca saṁsiddhā dhanair api vivarjitāḥ | samyag hutvā hutavahaṁ munayaḥ siddhim āgatāḥ ||
Parāśara dit : «Même sans richesse, les sages atteignirent l’accomplissement par leur effort persévérant. Ayant offert comme il se doit les oblations dans le feu sacré, ils parvinrent au succès spirituel.» Le vers souligne que l’ascèse disciplinée et l’exécution correcte des rites du dharma peuvent conduire à l’atteinte, sans dépendre des biens matériels.
