Sāṃkhya–Yoga Distinction and Instruction on Yogic Strength
The verse presents a harsh corrective ethic: liberation from a binding fault is achieved by disciplined engagement with the very locus of bondage, not by diversion into other outlets. Śiva’s blocking of other ‘channels’ symbolizes enforced restraint so that the seeker confronts and purifies the root impulse rather than dispersing it.
Bhīṣma reports that Śiva (Mahādeva) gives a direct instruction to a person seeking release, stating that the way out is through the śiśna, and then he obstructs all other exits/channels. The scene depicts divine intervention that restricts alternative routes and compels a specific, corrective path to deliverance.
