Instruction on the Cessation of Craving
Kapila emphasizes that procreation is the natural source of living lineages, and that the proper, dharmic means for begetting offspring is the gṛhastha (householder) āśrama rather than other modes of life.
In the Śānti Parva’s instructional dialogue, Kapila is presenting a doctrinal point about āśrama-dharma: he links the continuation of beings through offspring with the ethical-social role of household life.
