स एव हाुस्तमयते स सम विद्योतते दिश:
sa eva hāstamayate sa samaṁ vidyotate diśaḥ | sa eva yathāsamayaṁ ālasyaṁ chittvā samantād diśaḥ prakāśayati, sa evāstam eti sa eva varṣati | brahman! taṁ baliṁ ahaṁ mṛgayamāṇo ’pi na paśyāmi | tvaṁ me rājānaṁ balikaṁ ācakṣva ||
Bhīṣma dit : «Lui seul se couche, et lui seul brille d’un éclat égal, illuminant les quartiers du monde. En son temps, rejetant toute indolence, il éclaire chaque direction ; il se couche aussi, et il envoie aussi la pluie. Ô brahmane, bien que je cherche ce Bali, je ne le trouve pas. Dis-moi—désigne-moi le roi Bali.»
