Kāla, Anityatā, and the Limits of Agency
Mahābhārata 12.217
Liberation is attained by those whose minds are steadily absorbed in the pursuit and practice of liberating knowledge (vidyā). Such seekers become free from rajas (passionate agitation), abide in Brahman, and reach the supreme goal (parā gati).
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues advising Yudhiṣṭhira on the path beyond worldly bondage. Here he summarizes the fruit of knowledge-oriented discipline: release from mortal existence and attainment of the highest state.
