Svapna–Manas–Guṇa–Brahma-vicāra
नादेन तेन महता सनातन इति स्मृतः । पद्मनाभो महायोगी भूताचार्य: स भूतराट्,सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंक आचार्य और स्वामी महायोगी वे भगवान् पद्मनाभ अपने महान् सिंहनादके कारण “सनातन” माने गये हैं
nādena tena mahatā sanātana iti smṛtaḥ | padmanābho mahāyogī bhūtācāryaḥ sa bhūtarāṭ |
Bhīṣma dit : «À cause de ce rugissement immense et primordial, on se souvient de lui comme de “Sanātana” (l’Éternel). Ce Padmanābha—le grand yogin—est le maître de tous les êtres et le souverain des êtres, guide universel et seigneur de toutes les créatures.»
भीष्म उवाच
The verse affirms the Supreme Lord’s eternality and universal lordship: the divine is “Sanātana” (ever-existing), the master of yoga, and the teacher and ruler of all beings—grounding ethics and dharma in a timeless, cosmic authority.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma continues his instruction by praising and identifying the Supreme as Padmanābha, explaining why he is called “Sanātana,” and describing him as the universal preceptor and sovereign of all creatures.
