Adhyāya 180: Jīva, Śarīra, and the Fire Analogy (भृगु–भरद्वाज संवादः)
आशयन्त्यपि मामन्न॑ पुनर्बहुगुणं बहु । पुनरल्पं पुन:स्तोकं पुनर्नैवोपपद्यते
āśayanty api mām annaṃ punar bahuguṇaṃ bahu | punar alpaṃ punaḥ stokaṃ punar naivopapadyate ||
Bhīṣma dit : «Même lorsqu’on prend soin de moi, des gens viennent sans cesse et me donnent une nourriture abondante, riche de maintes qualités. Pourtant, à d’autres moments, je ne reçois que peu—parfois une simple bouchée—et parfois même pas cela. Ainsi, ce qui échoit à l’homme dans la vie est inégal et incertain.»
