जीवितं सम कुमाराय प्रादाद् वर्षशतानि वै । उन्होंने जब नेत्रोंमें आँसू भरकर भगवान् शंकरसे इस प्रकार प्रार्थना की, तब उन्होंने उस बालकको जीवित कर दिया और उसे सौ वर्षोकी आयु प्रदान की
jīvitaṃ saṃ kumārāya prādād varṣaśatāni vai |
Bhīṣma dit : Śaṅkara rendit la vie à l’enfant et lui accorda la pleine durée de cent ans, répondant à la prière, versée dans les larmes, venue du cœur et offerte dans un abandon total. Cet épisode souligne qu’une dévotion sincère et une grâce compatissante peuvent renverser même un malheur qui paraît irrévocable, tout en affirmant l’idéal éthique de protéger et de restaurer la vie.
