शल्मलि–पवनसंवादः
The Dialogue of Śalmali and Pavana
बशभ्राम तस्मिन् विजने नानामृगसमाकुले । ततो द्रुमाणां महता पवनेन वने तदा
babhāma tasmin vijane nānā-mṛga-samākule | tato drumāṇāṃ mahatā pavanena vane tadā dadāha pāvakaḥ kruddho yugāntāgni-samaprabhaḥ |
Bhishma dit : Dans cette solitude, une forêt déserte grouillant de bêtes sauvages de toutes sortes, il erra çà et là, dans la confusion. Alors, un vent furieux fit se frotter les arbres les uns contre les autres, et un immense incendie éclata. Le Feu, courroucé, flamboyant comme la conflagration de la fin d’un âge, se mit à brûler cette forêt, se répandant dans les lianes, les branches et les troncs. La scène rappelle que des forces déchaînées, une fois allumées, peuvent dévorer tout un milieu, avertissant contre la négligence et l’enchaînement des causes.
