Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca
मनसा भावगम्भीरो मार्जारं वाक्यमब्रवीत् | बिलावके द्वरा इस प्रकारकी स्तुति की जानेपर भी चूहा अपने मनसे गम्भीर भाव ही धारण किये रहा। उसने मार्जारसे पुनः इस प्रकार कहा-- || १९० इ ।।
manasā bhāvagambhīro mārjāraṃ vākyam abravīt | bilāvake dvarāḥ | sādhuḥ bhavān śrutārtho 'smi prīye ca na ca viśvase |
Lomaśa dit : La souris, l’esprit grave et inébranlable, parla de nouveau au chat : «Mon frère, tu es vraiment un homme de bien ; je l’ai entendu dire de toi. Cela me réjouit — pourtant je ne te fais pas confiance. Quand bien même tu me louerais sans mesure, quand bien même tu répandrais des richesses pour moi, je ne puis à présent m’allier à toi. Un homme sage et instruit ne se place pas, sans nécessité impérieuse, sous le pouvoir de son ennemi.»
