Daṇḍotpatti-kathana (Origin and Function of Daṇḍa) —
This closing colophon signals that the chapter’s instruction centers on rājadharma—ethical and practical duties of a ruler—framed as Bhīṣma’s authoritative guidance on righteous governance and the maintenance of social order.
Rather than advancing plot events, this line functions as a formal end-of-chapter marker in the Śānti Parva, indicating that the current unit of Bhīṣma’s discourse on royal duties has concluded and the text is moving to the next chapter.
