प्रावषीवासितग्रीवो मज्जेत निशि निर्जने । मायूरेण गुणेनैव स्त्रीभिश्चालक्षितश्चरेत्
prāvaṣīvāsita-grīvo majjeta niśi nirjane | māyūreṇa guṇenaiva strībhiś cālakṣitaś caret |
Bhīṣma dit : «Tel le paon qui, le cou trempé par la pluie, se tient caché et s’abîme dans l’immobilité aux heures nocturnes et solitaires, ainsi le roi, durant la saison des pluies, doit s’abstenir de marcher contre l’ennemi et demeurer au palais, invisible et sous bonne garde. Reprenant le trait même du paon, qu’il se déplace sans être remarqué — pas même des femmes — en gardant le secret et la retenue.»
