Ānṛśaṃsya, Amātya-Guṇa, and Reconciliatory Counsel (आनृशंस्य–अमात्यगुण–संधि-उपदेशः)
सुसंगृहीतस्त्वेवैष त्वया धर्मपुरोगम: । संसेव्यमान: शरत्रूंस्ते गृल्लीयान्महतो गणान्
su-saṅgṛhītastv evaiṣa tvayā dharma-puro-gamaḥ | saṃsevyamānaḥ śatrūṃs te grāsīyān mahato gaṇān ||
Bhīṣma dit : « Si tu l’adoptes avec une maîtrise de toi ferme, en plaçant le dharma au premier rang, alors—si tu le cultives et t’appuies sur lui comme il convient—il te permettra de dompter même les plus vastes et redoutables masses de tes ennemis. »
भीष्म उवाच
Power becomes truly effective and legitimate when governed by dharma and disciplined practice; a dharma-led, well-controlled principle can subdue even overwhelming opposition.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma is instructing the listener on righteous conduct and effective governance; here he emphasizes that the method under discussion, when adopted with dharma foremost and steadily cultivated, can overcome great enemy forces.
