Duryodhana’s Post-Duel Lament and Instructions (भग्नसक्थस्य विलापः)
असूयां पाण्डुपुत्रेषु न भवान् कर्तुमहति । 'यह सब अपने ही अपराधोंका फल है, ऐसा जानकर आपको पाण्डवोंके प्रति दोषदृष्टि नहीं करनी चाहिये ।। ५० ई ।। कुलं वंशश्व पिण्डाश्व यच्च पुत्रकृतं फलम्
asūyāṃ pāṇḍuputreṣu na bhavān kartum arhati |
Vaiśampāyana dit : «Tu ne dois ni nourrir l’envie ni chercher la faute chez les fils de Pāṇḍu. Sachant que ces événements sont le fruit de ses propres méfaits, ne pose pas sur les Pāṇḍava un regard accusateur.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Do not blame or resent the Pāṇḍavas; instead, understand suffering and defeat as consequences of one’s own actions (karma) and restrain envy and accusatory judgment.
In the midst of the Shalya Parva’s war-time narration, Vaiśampāyana reports a moral admonition: the listener is urged to avoid directing hostility toward the Pāṇḍavas and to interpret the unfolding calamity as self-caused rather than as grounds for blaming them.
