Kārttikeya-Abhiṣecana: Mātṛgaṇa-Nāma Saṃkīrtana and Skanda’s Commission

Educational Q&A

The verse presents power as legitimate when it is harmonized within a larger moral and cosmic order: many mighty forces stand in disciplined attendance around a higher authority, implying that strength gains meaning when aligned with dharma rather than used as isolated aggression.

Vaiśampāyana describes a majestic gathering in which formidable beings—named figures like Parigha, Varta, Bhīma, Dahati, and Dahana—along with divine groups (Rudras, Vasus, Ādityas, and the Aśvins) surround and attend a central ‘Lord,’ emphasizing a solemn, awe-filled assembly of powers.
