Renewed Summons to the Dice-Game and Exile Wager
द्रौपहुुवाच एवं नूनं व्यदधात् संविधाता स्पर्शावुभौ स्पृशतो वृद्धबालौ । धर्म त्वेक॑ परम॑ प्राह लोके स न: शमं धास्यति गोप्यमान:
Draupady uvāca—evaṁ nūnaṁ vyadadhāt saṁvidhātā sparśāv ubhau spṛśato vṛddha-bālau | dharma tv ekaṁ paramaṁ prāha loke sa naḥ śamaṁ dhāsyati gopyamānaḥ ||
Draupadī dit : « Fils du sūta, c’est assurément ainsi que l’Ordonnateur l’a disposé : les deux contacts—le doux et le douloureux—atteignent tous les êtres, vieux comme jeunes. Pourtant, en ce monde, seul le Dharma est proclamé suprême. Si nous le préservons et vivons selon lui, il nous apportera paix et salut. »
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even though pleasure and pain inevitably touch everyone by the arrangement of destiny, Dharma is the highest guiding principle; when protected and practiced, it yields peace and welfare.
Draupadī reflects on the inevitability of suffering and fortune for all people and asserts that steadfast adherence to Dharma—rather than despair or retaliation—will ultimately secure their well-being.
