अवध्यकल्पा निहता नरेन्द्रा- स्तवार्थकामा युधि पाण्डवेयै: । तनन््मा शुचो भारत दिष्टमेतत् पर्याश्वस त्वं न सदास्ति सिद्धि:,जो-जो राजा तुम्हारे स्वार्थकी सिद्धि चाहनेवाले और अवध्यके समान थे, उन सबको पाण्डवोंने युद्धमें मार डाला। अतः भारत! तुम शोक न करो। यह सब प्रारब्धका खेल है। सबको सदा ही सिद्धि नहीं मिलती, ऐसा जानकर धैर्य धारण करो”

avadhyakalpā nihatā narendrās tavārthakāmā yudhi pāṇḍaveyaiḥ |
tan mā śuco bhārata diṣṭam etat paryāśvasa tvaṃ na sadāsti siddhiḥ ||
Sanjaya dit : Ces rois qui semblaient comme invincibles, et qui combattaient pour accomplir leurs propres desseins, ont été tués au combat par les fils de Pându. Ainsi, ô Bharata, ne te lamente pas. Cela a été décrété par le destin ; reprends courage, car la réussite ne vient pas à tous en tout temps.
