भुजान्तरं प्राप्प धनंजयस्य विवेश वल्मीकमिवोरगोत्तम: । कर्णके हाथसे छूटा हुआ वह बाण इन्द्रके वज़के समान प्रकाशित हो रहा था। उसका अग्रभाग बहुत तेज था। वह अर्जुनकी छातीमें जा लगा और जैसे उत्तम सर्प बाँबीमें घुस जाता है, उसी प्रकार वह उनके वक्षःस्थलमें समा गया ।। स गाढविद्ध: समरे महात्मा विघूर्णमान: श्लथहस्तगाण्डिव:

sa gāḍhaviddhaḥ samare mahātmā vighūrṇamānaḥ ślathahastagāṇḍivaḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : Parvenue entre les bras de Dhanañjaya, cette flèche éminente s’enfonça en lui, telle un serpent d’élite glissant dans sa termitière. Atteint profondément au combat, Arjuna, au grand cœur, chancela ; sa prise se relâcha, et l’arc Gāṇḍīva pendit dans sa main.
