Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how great moral and martial confrontations generate uncertainty for the wider world, and it frames the desire for certainty as a turn toward higher, impartial truth—seeking a verdict beyond partisan hope.

Sañjaya reports that the impending or ongoing clash between Karṇa and Arjuna has made everyone anxious and unsure of the outcome, and he appeals to the Self-born Lord (Svayambhū) to declare truthfully which of the two will attain victory.
