Karṇa-parva Adhyāya 58 — Arjuna’s Arrow-Storm and Relief of Bhīmasena
विह्वलं तं तु वीक्ष्याथ द्रोणपुत्रं च सारथि: । अपोवाह रथेनाजौ त्वरमाणो रणाजिरात्,द्रोणकुमारको विह्नलल देखकर उसका सारथि बड़ी उतावलीके साथ उसे रथके द्वारा समरांगणसे दूर हटा ले गया
vihvalaṃ taṃ tu vīkṣyātha droṇaputraṃ ca sārathiḥ | apovāha rathenājau tvaramāṇo raṇājirāt ||
Sañjaya dit : Voyant le fils de Droṇa défaillir, son cocher, en toute hâte, éloigna le char du champ de bataille et le retira du cœur de la mêlée.
संजय उवाच
Even in war, dharma includes discerning when force must yield to protection: a charioteer’s responsibility is not merely to advance the fight but to safeguard the warrior when he is mentally or physically overwhelmed.
Sañjaya reports that Droṇa’s son (Aśvatthāmā) becomes distressed; seeing this, his charioteer quickly drives the chariot away, withdrawing him from the battlefield.
