कर्णभीमसमागमः | Karṇa–Bhīma Encounter
तस्य त्वं पुरुषव्याप्र नियच्छ तुरगान् युधि । “शल्य! आज कर्ण अर्जुनके साथ युद्ध करनेकी इच्छा रखता है। पुरुषसिंह! आप रणस्थलमें इसके घोड़ोंको काबूमें रखें
tasya tvaṃ puruṣavyāpra niyaccha turagān yudhi | śalya ājā karṇa arjunena saha yuddhaṃ kartum icchati | puruṣasiṃha tvam raṇasthale 'sya ghoḍān (turagān) vaśe kuru ||
Sañjaya dit : « Ô héros plein de vigueur, au cœur du combat, retiens et maîtrise ses chevaux. Ô Śalya, aujourd’hui Karṇa désire combattre Arjuna. Lion parmi les hommes, sur le champ de bataille, tiens ses coursiers fermement sous ton commandement. »
संजय उवाच
Even in a morally fraught war, success depends on disciplined execution of one’s assigned role: the charioteer’s self-control and technical mastery (reining the horses) becomes an ethical duty, because it directly governs the warrior’s capacity to act effectively and responsibly in combat.
Sañjaya reports an instruction addressed to Śalya: since Karṇa is eager to engage Arjuna in battle that day, Śalya must keep Karṇa’s chariot-horses firmly controlled on the battlefield, ensuring stable maneuvering for the impending duel.
