The verse highlights how anger, when empowered and weaponized, becomes a consuming force—like a fire—capable of overwhelming restraint and discernment. Ethically, it warns that reliance on wrath (even when framed as divine power) intensifies destruction and clouds dharmic judgment in war.
Duryodhana describes a missile (arrow) into which Maheśvara (Śiva) has infused fierce, unbearable wrath—likened to an intolerable fire of anger—so that the weapon carries extraordinary destructive potency, associated with the seers Bhṛgu and Aṅgiras.
