कर्णस्य दानप्रतिज्ञा–शल्योपदेश–वाक्ययुद्धम्

अभ्यवर्तन्त सहसा परीप्सन्तो नराधिपम्‌ । उसे संकटमें पड़ा देख कर्ण, अश्वत्थामा तथा कृपाचार्य आदि वीर अपने राजाकी रक्षा चाहते हुए सहसा युधिष्ठिरके सामने आ पहुँचे

abhyavartanta sahasā parīpsanto narādhipam |

Sañjaya dit : «Voyant le roi pris au piège du péril, Karṇa, Aśvatthāmā, Kṛpācārya et d’autres guerriers — désireux de protéger leur souverain — se ruèrent aussitôt pour affronter Yudhiṣṭhira. L’instant met en lumière l’éthique du champ de bataille : la loyauté envers le roi et les compagnons, même quand tout s’effondre.»
