Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical weight of command in war: leaders arrange forces with deliberate intent, and skilled warriors are placed where their prowess will most affect outcomes. It implicitly underscores kṣatriya-dharma—readiness, discipline, and strategic responsibility—while reminding that such organization serves a larger, morally fraught conflict.

Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Droṇa has completed the arrangement of a major battle-formation and is standing prepared. Within the sharp, forward ‘needle-point’ section of that array, Kṛtavarmā, renowned as a great archer, is positioned as a key combatant.
