Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how public speech and ritual sound (benedictions, heralds, instruments) can shape collective emotion—turning a violent context into a socially sanctioned ‘victory’ moment. It implicitly shows the power of ceremony and proclamation to legitimize outcomes and rally morale.

Sañjaya describes an atmosphere of celebration: auspicious blessings and the voices of professional heralds (sūtas and māgadhas), joined with the roar of war-instruments, create joy among the assembled people and function as a sign/announcement of victory.
