Protection of Droṇa’s formation and parallel duels

Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the verse primarily teaches how the Mahābhārata frames its war narrative with careful textual boundaries: episodes are closed formally, reminding the reader that events—especially acts of killing in war—are not isolated, but part of a structured moral and historical account whose consequences continue beyond a single scene.

This line is a chapter-ending notice stating that the seventieth chapter has concluded in the Droṇa Parva, within the Abhimanyu-vadha section, and that the chapter’s subject was an upākhyāna (subsidiary episode) connected with sixteen kings.
