Yudhiṣṭhira’s Appeal and Kṛṣṇa’s Assurance
Droṇa-parva, Adhyāya 59
The verse extols rājadharma: when a ruler embodies dharma, justice, and compassion, society becomes orderly and uplifted. Rāma’s righteous governance is portrayed as so exemplary that it inspires collective remembrance and moral alignment—symbolized by the people’s constant utterance of ‘Rāma.’
Nārada is praising the era of Rāma’s rule, describing how, during his administration of the kingdom, the populace continually spoke of Rāma, and the world seemed ‘Rāma-filled’—a poetic way of saying that his fame, virtue, and beneficent order permeated society.
