द्रोणविक्रमदर्शनम् / The Display of Droṇa’s Onslaught and the Debate on Pāṇḍava Regrouping

तस्मिन्‌ हते राजपुत्रे पज्चालानां यशस्करे । हत द्रोणं हत द्रोणमित्यासीज्नि:स्वनो महान्‌

tasmin hate rājaputre pāñcālānāṃ yaśaskare | hata droṇaṃ hata droṇam ity āsīj niḥsvano mahān ||

Sañjaya dit : Lorsque ce prince—qui rehaussait la gloire des Pāñcālas—fut tué, un grand tumulte s’éleva, avec des cris : « Tuez Droṇa ! Tuez Droṇa ! » Ce cri montrait comment la mort d’un guerrier illustre devenait aussitôt un tournant stratégique et moral : le but du combat se déplaça vers la chute de Droṇa, considéré comme le pilier majeur de la cause des Kaurava.
