उदिते तु सहस्रांशी तप्तकाञ्चनसप्रभे | प्रकाशितेषु लोकेषु पुनर्युद्धमवर्तत,तपाये हुए सुवर्णके समान कान्तिमान्‌ सूर्यदेवका उदय होनेपर जब सम्पूर्ण लोकोंमें प्रकाश छा गया, तब पुनः युद्ध होने लगा

Transliteration

udite tu sahasrāṃśī tapta-kāñcana-sa-prabhe | prakāśiteṣu lokeṣu punar yuddham avartata ||

Translation

Sañjaya dit : Lorsque se leva le soleil aux mille rayons, éclatant comme l’or chauffé à blanc, et que la lumière se répandit dans tous les mondes, la bataille recommença. Le vers souligne la sinistre régularité de la guerre : l’aube impartiale qui ranime la vie devient aussi le signal d’une violence renouvelée, car la volonté des hommes retourne au conflit plutôt qu’à la retenue.
