प्रादुश्षक्रे महामायां राक्षसीं पाण्डुनन्दन: । कर्णको दिव्यास्त्रका संधान करते देख पाण्डवनन्दन घटोत्कचने अपनी राक्षसी महामाया प्रकट की

prāduścakre mahāmāyāṃ rākṣasīṃ pāṇḍunandanaḥ |

Sañjaya dit : Le fils de Pāṇḍu fit paraître sa grande illusion (mahāmāyā), née des rākṣasas. Au cœur de la bataille, cela marque le recours à des moyens hors du commun : lorsque la puissance, la ruse et la contre-ruse deviennent des instruments de guerre, et que s’exacerbe la tension morale entre la nécessité du combat et l’idéal d’une conduite droite et transparente.
