Adhyāya 16: Saṃśaptaka-vrata and the Diversion of Arjuna (द्रोणपर्व, अध्याय १६)
अब्र॒ुवन् सैनिकास्तत्र दृष्टवा द्रोणस्य विक्रमम् । अद्य राजा धाररराष्ट्र: कृतार्थों वै भविष्यति,वहाँ द्रोणाचार्यका पराक्रम देख कौरव-सैनिक कहने लगे, “आज राजा दुर्योधन अवश्य कृतार्थ हो जायँगे
abrūvan sainikās tatra dṛṣṭvā droṇasya vikramam | adya rājā dhṛtarāṣṭraḥ kṛtārtho vai bhaviṣyati ||
Sañjaya dit : Voyant là la vaillance redoutable de Droṇa, les soldats kauravas se mirent à dire : « Aujourd’hui, le roi Dhṛtarāṣṭra verra sûrement son dessein accompli. » Cette parole révèle combien la réussite sur le champ de bataille est vite prise pour la validation des espérances d’un souverain—quand bien même cet « accomplissement » demeure moralement assombri par la violence et la partialité qui portent la guerre.
