Even amid war, dharmic conduct includes acknowledging loyalty and courage with genuine affection; Yudhiṣṭhira’s embrace and tears show gratitude, human tenderness, and moral sensitivity rather than cold triumphalism.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that after speaking, Yudhiṣṭhira warmly embraces Sātyaki and Bhīma, and, filled with joy, sheds tears—marking an emotional moment of solidarity among the Pāṇḍava allies.
