Alāyudha’s Resolve to Confront Bhīma
स्थित: सर्वात्मना नित्य॑ प्रियेषु च हितेषु च । त्वां चैवास्माभिराश्रित्य कृत: शस्त्रसमुद्यम:
sthitaḥ sarvātmanā nityaṁ priyeṣu ca hiteṣu ca | tvāṁ caivāsmābhir āśritya kṛtaḥ śastra-samudyamaḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : «Inébranlables de tout notre être—constants dans l’affection et dans la bienveillance—ne nous appuyant que sur toi, nous avons entrepris l’effort des armes.»
संजय उवाच
The verse frames warfare as an undertaken duty grounded in steadfast loyalty and reliance on a leader/king; it highlights the ethical tension of taking up arms while claiming constancy in affection and goodwill.
Sañjaya addresses the king, describing the resolve and mobilization for battle: they have raised weapons and committed to martial effort, presenting it as done in reliance upon the addressee’s authority.
