Night Engagement with Droṇa and Karṇa
The verse highlights how exemplary conduct in crisis becomes publicly visible and judged: valor and steadfastness in battle draw praise from impartial, even celestial, witnesses—suggesting that reputation (kīrti) follows actions performed under severe moral and physical trial.
Sañjaya describes two prominent combatants (implied by the dual forms) who stand out amid the massed warriors. Their performance in the fight is so striking that celestial beings—Siddhas, Cāraṇas, and Nāgas—are said to praise them as the battle unfolds.
