अध्याय १४६ — निशायां सात्यकिदुर्योधनयुद्धम् / Chapter 146 — Night Battle: Sātyaki and Duryodhana; Śakuni’s Encirclement of Arjuna
पुरुषप्रवर महाराज! उन दोनों महाबली शिनि और सोमदत्तमें आधे दिनतक विचित्र एवं अद्भुत बाहुयुद्ध हुआ ।। शिनिना सोमदत्तस्तु प्रसहा भुवि पातित: । असिमुद्यम्य केशेषु प्रगृह्दा च पदा हतः:,उसमें शिनिने सोमदत्तको बलपूर्वक पृथ्वीपर पटक दिया और तलवार उठाकर उनकी चुटिया पकड़ ली एवं उन्हें लात मारी
sañjaya uvāca | puruṣapravara mahārāja! tayor ubhayor mahābalayoḥ śini-somadattayoḥ ardha-dina-paryantaṃ vicitraṃ cādbhutaṃ ca bāhu-yuddham abhavat || śininā somadattas tu prasahya bhuvi pātitaḥ | asim udyamya keśeṣu pragṛhya ca padā hataḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : Ô grand roi, le meilleur des hommes ! Pendant une demi-journée, ces deux puissants guerriers, Śini et Somadatta, livrèrent un combat au corps à corps étrange et stupéfiant. Puis Śini, prenant le dessus sur Somadatta, le jeta à terre ; levant son épée, il le saisit par les cheveux et le frappa du pied—geste qui montre la férocité et la perte de retenue que la guerre peut susciter même chez des combattants renommés.
