मया त्वं समनुज्ञात: कृष्णेन च महात्मना । गच्छ पुण्यकृताललोकान् शिबिरौशीनरो यथा,मैं और महात्मा भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण आपको यह आज्ञा देते हैं कि आप उशीनरपुत्र शिबिके समान पुण्यात्मा पुरुषोंके लोकोंमे जायेँ
mayā tvaṃ samanujñātaḥ kṛṣṇena ca mahātmanā | gaccha puṇyakṛtāṃ lokān śibirauśīnaro yathā ||
Arjuna dit : «Tu as reçu congé de moi, et aussi de Krishna au grand cœur. Va maintenant vers les mondes obtenus par ceux qui accomplissent le mérite—comme Śibi, fils d’Uśīnara.»
अर्जुन उवाच
Even amid violence, the epic preserves an ethical lens: one’s end is evaluated through dharma and merit. By invoking Śibi—an emblem of self-sacrifice and righteousness—Arjuna frames the fallen/defeated warrior’s passage as potentially honorable, emphasizing that deeds (puṇya) shape one’s destination.
Arjuna speaks, stating that both he and Krishna grant leave to the addressed person to depart for the meritorious realms, comparing that destination to the famed righteous king Śibi (Auśīnara). The line functions as a formal, value-laden dismissal in the battlefield context.
