Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s advance toward Droṇa and the Sātyaki–Karṇa confrontation
निन्द्यमानौ तथा कृष्णौ नोचतु: किंचिदप्रियम् । ततः प्रशस्यमानश्नव नाहृष्यद् यूपकेतन:
sañjaya uvāca
nindyamānau tathā kṛṣṇau nocatuḥ kiñcid apriyam |
tataḥ praśasyamānau na hāhṛṣyad yūpaketanaḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : Bien que les deux Kṛṣṇa fussent blâmés, ils ne prononcèrent pas un seul mot dur ni déplaisant. Et lorsqu’on les louait, Yūpaketana ne s’en enorgueillit pas : il demeura égal au blâme comme à l’éloge.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights steadiness of character: one should not retaliate with harsh speech when blamed, nor become intoxicated with pride when praised. Ethical restraint in speech and emotional balance are presented as marks of inner discipline.
Sañjaya reports that, amid the tensions of the Drona Parva, the two figures referred to as 'the two Kṛṣṇas' remain composed under criticism, and Yūpaketana likewise does not become overjoyed when commended—showing calm amid shifting public opinion.
