Adhyāya 141 — Night duels: Śaineya and Bhūriśravas; Droṇi and Ghaṭotkaca; Bhīma and Duryodhana
अथापरेण भल्ल्लेन सूतपुत्र॑ स्तनान्तरे । आजयचघान भशं क्रुद्धो हसन्निव वृकोदर:,तदनन्तर भीमसेनने अत्यन्त कुपित हो हँसते हुए-से दूसरे भल्लसे सूतपुत्रकी छातीमें बड़े जोरसे आघात किया
athāpareṇa bhallena sūtaputraḥ stanāntare | ājaghāna bhṛśaṃ kruddho hasann iva vṛkodaraḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : Alors Vṛkodara (Bhīma), en proie à la colère, comme s’il riait, frappa le fils du cocher (Karṇa) d’une autre flèche bhalla, l’enfonçant avec une grande force dans sa poitrine.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how, in the dharma of battle, a warrior’s resolve can harden into fierce intensity; anger and determination become instruments of action, reminding readers that choices made in wrath carry immediate and grave consequences.
Sañjaya narrates that Bhīma (Vṛkodara), furious and seemingly laughing, shoots/strikes Karṇa (called sūtaputra) with another bhalla-arrow, hitting him powerfully in the chest.
