Duryodhana’s Incursion and the Tumult of Battle

Even the most dharmic leader can be overtaken by kaśmala (moral confusion and panic) under the pressure of war; companions have a duty to restore steadiness, reminding the leader of responsibility, courage, and the ethical necessity of acting without collapse.
Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira has fallen into an unprecedented state of agitation. Seeing this, Bhīma speaks directly to him—addressing him as ‘King’—and expresses that he has never before seen or heard of such fear in Yudhiṣṭhira, implicitly urging him to regain composure.
