Bhīmasena’s Kalinga Engagement and the Approach of Bhīṣma (भीमसेन-कालिङ्ग-संग्रामः)
प्रणेदुर्भिन्नमर्माणो निपेतुश्च गतासव: । प्राद्रवन्त दिश: केचिन्नदन्तो भैरवान् रवान्
sañjaya uvāca | praṇedur bhinnamarmāṇo nipetuś ca gatāsavaḥ | prādravanta diśaḥ kecin nadanto bhairavān ravān |
Sañjaya dit : Certains, les jointures et points vulnérables brisés, barrirent puissamment puis tombèrent à terre sans vie. D’autres s’enfuirent de tous côtés en poussant des cris terrifiants. La scène souligne l’élan brutal de la bataille : même les plus grands éléphants de guerre, jadis symboles de la puissance royale et de la discipline du dressage, sont réduits à la panique, à l’effondrement et à la mort sous la force des armes.
