Droṇa–Dhṛṣṭadyumna-yuddha (द्रोण-धृष्टद्युम्न-युद्धम्) — Tactical duel and allied interventions
तलत्राभिह्वताश्षैव ज्याशब्दा भरतर्षभ | पत्तीनां पादशब्दक्ष वाजिनां च महास्वन:,भरतश्रेष्ठ) तलत्राणके आघातसे टकरायी हुई प्रत्यंचाओंके शब्द, पैदल सिपाहियोंके पैरोंकी धमक, उच्चस्वरसे होनेवाली घोड़ोंकी हिनहिनाहट, हाथियोंके चाबुक और अंकुशके आघातका शब्द, हथियारोंकी झनझनाहट तथा एक-दूसरेपर धावा करनेवाले गजराजोंके घण्टानाद--ये सब शब्द मिलकर ऐसी भयंकर आवाज प्रकट करने लगे, जो रोंगटे खड़े कर देनेवाली थी। उसीमें रथोंके पहियोंकी घरघराहट होने लगी, जो मेघोंकी विकट गर्जनाके समान जान पड़ती थी

Sañjaya dit : Ô taureau parmi les Bhārata, le heurt des protège-paumes et le claquement des cordes d’arc, le pas lourd des fantassins et le hennissement retentissant des chevaux s’élevèrent ensemble en un seul rugissement terrifiant—un fracas de mauvais augure annonçant que les armées s’étaient pleinement jetées dans la bataille.
