Educational Q&A

The verse primarily builds the ethical atmosphere of impending conflict: collective excitement and aggressive pride can swell into a force that drives people toward violence. It implicitly cautions that war is not only weapons but also the contagious psychology of rivalry and provocation.

Sañjaya describes the battlefield soundscape: drums and conches resound, soldiers shout, and warriors exchange roaring challenges, producing lion-like cries that signal the armies’ readiness to engage.
