Chapter 47: Krauñca-vyūha Deployment and Conch-Signals
Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness
म्लेच्छाश्चार्याश्व ये तत्र ददृशु: शुश्रुवुस्तथा । वृत्तं तत् पाण्डुपुत्राणां रुरुदुस्ते सगद्गदा:,वहाँ जिन-जिन म्लेच्छों और आर्योंने पाण्डवोंका वह बर्ताव देखा तथा सुना, वे सब गद्गदकण्ठ होकर रोने लगे
mlecchāś cāryāś ca ye tatra dadṛśuḥ śuśruvus tathā | vṛttaṃ tat pāṇḍuputrāṇāṃ rurudus te sa-gadgadāḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : Ceux qui se trouvaient là — mleccha comme ārya — et qui virent, ou entendirent aussi, cette conduite des fils de Pāṇḍu, se mirent tous à pleurer, la voix étranglée par l’émotion.
संजय उवाच
Even in a battlefield setting, dhārmic conduct—marked by restraint, compassion, and nobility—has the power to soften hearts across social and cultural divisions (ārya and mleccha alike), revealing the universal moral force of righteous behavior.
Sañjaya reports that onlookers present there, having seen and heard about the Pāṇḍavas’ particular behavior in that episode, were so moved that they began to weep, their speech faltering from emotion.
