तयोर्युद्धं समभवद् भीष्महेतो: परंतप,परंतप! महाराज! इस प्रकार समरांगणमें क्रोधपूर्वक विचित्र युद्ध करनेवाले उन दोनों वीरोंमें भीष्मके लिये बड़ा भारी युद्ध हुआ, मानो देवासुरसंग्राममें राजा बलि और इन्द्रमें दन्द्ययुद्ध हो रहा हो

Sañjaya dit : Entre ces deux-là s’éleva, à cause de Bhīṣma, un combat farouche. Ô fléau des ennemis, ce fut pour Bhīṣma une lutte d’un poids immense et décisif—semblable au duel entre le roi Bali et Indra dans la guerre des dieux et des démons.
