राजपूजाविधानम् / Royal Reception Protocols during Āśvamedha Preparations
स किंपुरुषसंकीर्ण: किंनरैश्वनोपशोभित: । सिद्धविप्रनिवासैश्च समनन््तादभिसंवृत:
sa kiṃpuruṣasaṃkīrṇaḥ kiṃnaraiś caivānupaśobhitaḥ | siddhavipranivāsaiś ca samanantād abhisaṃvṛtaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Ce pavillon sacrificiel était rempli de Kiṃpuruṣa, et sa splendeur était encore rehaussée par les Kiṃnara. De toutes parts, il était entouré des demeures des Siddha et des brahmanes, qui enserraient l’enceinte — signe que le rite était observé et soutenu à la fois par des êtres célestes accomplis et par de savants gardiens du dharma.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores that a royal sacrifice gains legitimacy and auspicious power when it is upheld by dharmic authorities (vipras) and witnessed by exalted beings (siddhas). Ethical kingship is portrayed as requiring public, learned, and spiritually elevated sanction—not mere display of power.
Vaiśampāyana describes the scene of the yajña-maṇḍapa: it is crowded with wondrous semi-divine beings (Kiṃpuruṣas and Kiṃnaras) and surrounded on all sides by the residences of Siddhas and Brahmins, emphasizing the grandeur and sanctity of the Ashvamedha setting.
